Bell Atlantic's (NJ) local calling areas are based on Central Offices which sometimes serve several towns. The name of the Central Office that serves your town may be different from your town's name. This page will determine which Central Office handles your telephone number and which Central Offices are considered local to you. If local access to HICom is available, it will be noted.

Your phone number is of the form (aaa)eee-xxxx. aaa is the area code, eee is the exchange, and xxxx is your phone number. For example, for the phone number (973)227-0764, the area code (aaa) is 973, the exchange (eee) is 227, and the phone number (xxxx) is 0764. Although located in Fairfield, the exchange (227) is handled out of Caldwell Central Office.
